Decks & Balconies
Most of what we do. A raised deck or balcony needs a barrier, and it's usually the one place on the property where you least want something in the way. Glass keeps the outlook. Aluminium slats do the opposite on purpose — they screen you from the neighbour's window and cut the wind across the deck, which on a tight section is often worth more than the view.
Pool Surrounds
Pool barriers sit under their own set of rules — Clause F9 of the Building Code — and they're the only barrier on your property that gets re-inspected for as long as you own the pool. Height, gap sizes, gate hardware and a clear non-climbable zone are all checked, from both sides. We install to those requirements and make sure the documentation your council asks for comes with the job.
Stairs & Steps
Exterior stairs, landings and ramps need both a barrier and something to hold onto, and the two have different height requirements. We install them as a single run so it reads as part of the house rather than something added on. Round or flat-profile handrails, wall-mounted or post-mounted, powder-coated to match the rest of the job.
Compliance, handled properly
A balustrade isn't decoration. It's a safety barrier under Clause F4 of the New Zealand Building Code, and on most jobs it's an item the inspector will look at closely. That's not a reason to be nervous about it — it's a reason to be clear about who's handling what. Here's how we deal with it, so you're not the one chasing paperwork at the end.
Not every drop needs a barrier, and the ones that do don't all need the same thing. We establish what your situation requires before you commit to anything.
We only install balustrade systems that come with the manufacturer's engineering and test documentation behind them.
Fixings, spans and infill go in to the system manufacturer's requirements, not improvised on site.
The product documentation for your balustrade is handed over with the job, so it's there when a consent, an inspection or a future sale needs it.

Finished for the Auckland coast
Salt air is hard on aluminium, and how close you are to the water changes what powder coat your job needs. Standard architectural powder coat is fine for most inland Auckland sites. Closer to the coast, a marine-grade coating is the right call. Which one applies depends on your address more than your budget, and we'll tell you which it is when we measure.
Powder coat colours are broadly shared across aluminium systems, so in most cases a balustrade can be finished to sit alongside your existing pergola, louvres or fence. Bring us a colour code or a sample and we’ll tell you what’s achievable.
